Le Régent is seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced Head of Sport Faculty from August 2025. This role involves overseeing the Sports Faculty and working closely with the Head of Extracurricular Sports to ensure a clear pathway for student development across all grades.
Given the exceptional environment in which Le Régent is situated, extensive experience in winter sports is essential to ensure an exciting and dynamic programme for our students during the winter term. The person appointed will be responsible for running a programme that complements our mountain environment. Skiing or snowboarding to an advanced level is required and the ability to coach basketball, football and volleyball would be advantageous. A driving licence is required for this role.
JOB SUMMARY
The Head of Sports Faculty is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the Sports Faculty, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality education. This role involves curriculum development, teacher supervision, and fostering a positive and effective learning environment for students to flourish.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
Design, review, and enhance the Sports curriculum to align with educational standards and goals.
Integrate innovative teaching methodologies to enhance the learning experience.
Teacher Supervision and Development:
Provide guidance and support to Sports teachers, ensuring effective teaching practices.
Conduct regular teacher evaluations and professional development sessions to enhance teaching skills.
Foster a collaborative and supportive environment within the Sports Faculty.
Student Achievement:
Monitor and analyze student performance in Sports implementing strategies to improve outcomes.
Develop and implement coaching programmes in close collaboration with the Head of Extracurricular Sports.
Resource Management:
Manage and allocate resources needed for effective teaching.
Ensure that the Sports Faculty operates within budgetary constraints.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding Sports curriculum, student progress, and departmental initiatives and be on hand to respond to queries.
Collaborate with other Heads of Faculties and school administrators to align educational goals.
Write articles and information on the Sports Faculty for school magazines, the website and brochures.
Presentation of results in school assemblies.
Assessment and Evaluation:
Implement and oversee assessment practices to evaluate student progress and teacher effectiveness.
Use assessment data to inform decision-making and drive improvements in the Sports programme.
Professional Development:
Stay informed about current trends and best practices in Sports education.
Attend conferences and workshops to enhance personal and professional development.
Encourage the professional development of staff members to facilitate the best practice.
Additional Points
Participation in our active extra-curricular life and Boarding School environment assisting with Coaching several evenings per week.
Qualifications and Experience:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sports or a related field is essential, together with a PGCE or other internationally recognised, rigorous teaching qualification.
The ability, experience and willingness to teach Sports in both the Junior and Senior Schools.
A ski or snowboard instructor qualification and experience is essential.
A significant number of years of experience as a Sports teacher.
Track record of leadership experience, preferably in a supervisory or department head role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A knowledge of French would be an advantage.
Knowledge of current educational trends and methodologies.
Driving license (ability to drive a minibus is essential).
