Description
In this position you will contribute significantly to successful results in the development of next generation turbomachinerytechnologies and products, focusing on extending the portfolio of technologies and products inside and beyond Accelleron core business. Reporting to the Design & Engineering Lead, and as part of the Advanced Technology Development Department, you will utilize your broad technical knowledge and strong acumen for project management to plan, manage and execute research and development (R&D) activities, in close collaboration with our Business Development team. This role is based in Baden, Switzerland.
Your responsibilities:
Manage the project team (including external engineering partners and contractors), define with stakeholders the scope of work, cost, budget, resources required, time schedule and detailed work allocation
Identify early the main project risks and develop appropriate mitigation measures
Understand end customer value, translate requirements and demands coming from customers and identified industry trends in cost-effective product opportunities
Ensure continuous buildup of knowledge in the organization and readily derive inputs for technology outlook by continuously capturing lessons learned from projects
Lead R&D advanced technology projects in the field of turbomachinery and high-power systems
Tackle technical and costtrade-offs at system level while considering the entireapplication life cycle
Manages relationships with stakeholders, internal functions, other R&D teams in Technology and external relevant parties
Interact with Business Development Team and our Business Division to ensure our competitive market approach
Anticipate and analyze market trends from an R&D innovation perspective and transform them into profitable business cases or into concrete projects
Your background:
Strong project management (both agile and waterfall) and communication skills; sound approach to decision making under uncertainty and risk; willingness to challenge and get challenged, both internally and externally
Resilient mindset, able to adapt to changes and ready to transform failures into growth opportunities
Solid and broad knowledge of turbomachinery andsystem thermodynamics
University degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably a master’s degree (or similar), combined with at least 5 years of professional experience in Mechanical Engineering
Analytical skills, ability to understand complex situations and to use lateral thinking to generate innovative solutions
Strong interestcomplemented by hands-on experience in at least one of the following fields: electric machines, thermal management,digital technologies (sensors, monitoring, diagnostic, etc.), design and manufacturing technologies
Willingness to work in a team-oriented, dynamic working environment
Independent, self-organized and dedicated approach to work
Fluency in English required. German an asset, French is also an advantage
